Totally Crushed Out: Bayside Interview →
totallycrushedout:
Bayside Interview by Ryan Pangilinan New York outfit Bayside is easily one of the most sonically polarizing bands out on the scene today. While their earliest material featured the band playing breakneck speed pop-punk, their sound developed quickly into what you hear now, which blurs the lines…
This is an interview I did with Nick and Chris from Bayside on their last...

Halftimemag.com: John Vanderslice Interview
[This is an interview I did with John Vanderslice in the summer of 2002. It was after Life and Death of an American Four Tracker came out and it had quickly become one of my favorite records of the year. As it turned out, he was probably one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and we ended up having a lot of stuff in common. Other than continuing to be a successful musician, Vanderslice still...

Moon Waffles Videocast #1
Since we’ve been gone for a few weeks, Corey and I decided to make this week’s podcast a visually interesting version, meaning, we broke out a camcorder and made a videocast. Truthfully, we had a lot of fun doing this, so it’s possible that this might be the format that we’ll be running our mouths in.
EXCELSIOR!!!
New Moon Waffles feature.

Derangeways Update
So, it’s the end of summer and Derangeways, Here We Come still isn’t out yet. Not like anyone is clamoring, but I got some really great notes, comments and feedback, so I’m going through it and editing it accordingly. I’m also adding some new chapters, so there will be some additional stories for you guys to read.

August 23rd: Dawhud x Ryan at the White Rabbit
CONFIRMED!
Dawhud and I will be performing in Fremont at the White Rabbit (513 N 36th St, Seattle), Tuesday August 23rd (the day after my birthday), alongside Sadistik and Mike Champoux.
For S&G, here’s a bio I wrote up for Dave:
“Heel up, wheel up, bring it back, come rewind.” The lyrics from Busta Rhymes’ verse in “Scenario” have had a lasting impact on Seattle...

Ryan Fresh x Dawhud
So it’s official: I’m DJing for Dawhud. This is a great collaboration as I’ve never DJ’d for a rapper and he needs more Filipino people around him for street cred.
We’re booking shows right now, so stay tuned.

Hey, Moon Wafflings. Here’s a little mini doc (not Doogie) that I made of the assorted fuckery that goes down when we record. Watch. Laugh. Convulse. Whathaveya!
- Corey
Corey’s a dork, but he’s fam anyway. Also, I could stand to lose 5-10 lbs. Maybe it’s the camera. I hope.

An excerpt from "My First Time was in Public"
“At the end of the meeting that this date was a result of, many of my cohorts got on the phone and called every single 16 or 17 year old they knew in order to make this story happen. Apparently, matchmaking can begin long before you’ve even entertained the notion of having embarrassing sex.”

Derangeways Update
The first draft of the manuscript is done.
I sent it off to some peeps to get their opinions on it.
I’m hoping to have it available in late July, in time for the show with Dawhud. Oh, and if I haven’t mentioned it here, I will be Dawhud’s DJ for his show at the High Dive on July 27th. Details can be found here.

Art Scrawl on Soundcloud →
I made a Soundcloud page for some of the songs that I’ve been working on, which you can check out at the link. Art Scrawl isn’t a band or super cool project or anything. I just don’t want to use my name whenever I record these songs, so it’s a miscellaneous handle.

“Over my time at the porn shop, I amassed a collection of pornography. Before I continue this story, let me say that I am not into porn and I took these tapes and DVDs because, quite frankly, they were free. As a Filipino-American, it’s my birthright to accept anything that is free and/or cheap. Of course, the fact that I’m a vegetarian is a complete contradiction to this idea, but I...

Likeminded Bio
[Likeminded was this short-lived hip-hop group that was made up of Corey, Mike and Ced. This is a short bio I did for them a few years ago.]
Sir Mix A Lot. Kid Sensation. Seattle’s hip-hop exports haven’t too notable – save the occasional underground hit from time to time – but the trio that makes up Likeminded may change that. Fronted by the former Soulfish Philosophy duo, My Key and Just Be,...

Halftimemag.com: A (Not So) Brand New Interview
This is one of my favorite interviews because it was before a time when talking to Jesse Lacey was a scarce thing. He was transparent and honest and completely candid, which you seldom get from people in bands, let alone the lead singer.
This took place in June of 2003, just as their sophomore album “Deja Entendu” was breaking. Removing the fact I wrote it, it’s a good read....
