For me, it’s taken a long time to reconcile with my involvement with this band. Breathless Mahoney started out as Season of Death in 2002, but once our original drummer left, Jiles and I changed the name (because we didn’t care so much for it),  got our friends Collin and Chris to join and we expanded as a four piece. I’ve been in a few bands, but this is the one where I pretty much learned how to write songs and lyrics.
We played a ton of shows (in both incarnations), but after we recorded this EP, things fell apart and Jiles left the band, which sucks because it was the best sounding recording we made and, in my opinion, the best songs that we put together at that point. We tried to keep it together with Chris on vocals, but it didn’t really work as well. We had a tour planned that spring which we had to cancel and Chris and Collin went onto Wait in Vain, Set Your Goals and Sinking Ships, respectively. I didn’t play music for a while and started a few projects that I didn’t really stick around for (namely I Declare War). Jiles ended up rerecording some of these songs for his solo stuff, which I think he did/does for fun.
We never had a chance to put this record out because we did it backwards. We recorded it, booked a tour and THEN tried to put it out, but by the time we got to that part, the band was coming undone. So I’m putting this online to share with you guys. It’s not the best record in the world, but I feel like a lot of guts and emotion went into it and at the cost of some friendships.
