Likeminded Bio
[Likeminded was this short-lived hip-hop group that was made up of Corey, Mike and Ced. This is a short bio I did for them a few years ago.]
Sir Mix A Lot. Kid Sensation. Seattle’s hip-hop exports haven’t too notable – save the occasional underground hit from time to time – but the trio that makes up Likeminded may change that.
Fronted by the former Soulfish Philosophy duo, My Key and Just Be, and rounded out by DJ and producer Ced, Likeminded recalls the sweet sounds of 1995-96 era hip-hop records: hard drums layered under bells, keys, slick samples and catchy choruses. Their Myspace officiated hit “Make Em Clap” is jazzy enough to have been helmed by luminaries like Lords of the Underground or A Tribe Called Quest. The song’s clever rhymes are refreshing in a hip-hop world that is built on beef, bitches and booze.
Though they lack the ignorance that seems to be all the rage these days, Likeminded can be your favorite hip-hop group, and maybe your little sister’s too.
